Being a designer isn’t just about being able to draw – it is about getting a concept, making something that is attractive and informative, and generally ensuring that it looks better than it did when you started. For many designers, this career path is arrived at because they are highly creative and have been good at art whilst at school. However, you don’t necessarily need to be able to draw by hand. As a designer, you will be creating designs and concepts using software, so as long as you can make this look good, you will already have the basics.

Working in design, you will probably be working in marketing to make a good impression on clients. This means you need to understand more than just design – you need to have a marketing mind and understand the commercial aims and value of your work.
