Is it time for a rebrand?
Sometimes the branding that was perfect for your business in the past doesn’t hold its ground anymore. Finding the right time for a rebrand and managing it well can really help your business during such transitions.
Signs it might be time
Not having a set rule like other businesses, the signs that indicate the right time to rebrand for our clients are as follows:
-Your logo is outdated. Design moves with time, and what may have been a trend ten years ago may now look outdated.
– Your business has grown and moved so far away from the original business that it has outgrown its branding.
-Merging with another company. A new, unified company identity usually requires a merger.
-Negative connotations. Over time, a brand may have picked up a lot of negative associations, and a new start helps urged this negativity behind.
Refresh or full rebrand?
A refresh brand isn’t always necessary. It modernises your brand identity, keeping your logo shape and colors the same.
A full rebrand does modernise your brand entirely, and comprises of new logo, new color palette, and maybe a new name as well.
Expect a refresh for a slight change in brand energy, a full rebrand for your brand needs significant changes or your current brand is causing roadblocks for your business.
Think rebranding is more confusing for your client because old customers know your old brand. You could have an amazing new logo, but if clients don’t know it’s you they will lose recognition to a competitor.
Plan a method to slowly introduce the new branding. Tell clients the new branding is coming, update your website and social media profile as the first of your branding to change and leave the old branding somewhere as a note about the change.
Slowly put up the new branding.
Think of rebranding as coming up with a brand new brand for your company. Start with why you are doing this and what new things you are offering. Think about how your brand should look like with this new offering.
New brand concepts, feedback to improve the concepts, order the brand solutions so your clients can get used to the new branding.

Timing your rebrand
Timing can impact how a rebrand is received. Try to avoid the peak trading time as it adds pressure to you to resolve issues faster. It’s also worth considering when you open your new stores, your trading anniversary, or the start of the new year. These are Socially good times to do a rebrand and then provide your customers with a reason and a clear story.
Informing your staff
Design is one aspect of a rebrand, but staff are also affected when the rebrand is fully implemented, from first interaction to email signatures, uniforms, etc. Staff shouldn’t also be the last to learn of a rebrand, they should at least be informed and should have the new design materials before the information is shared with the general public.
Your staff should be your first rebrand advocates and if they stay positive, customers will as well.
