I meet so many people that have a website or literature for their business that contains images that are protected by copyright. If you design an image from scratch then you automatically own the copyright for it and can actually charge people to use it. Too many people, business owners and even some graphic designers are not aware of this and could actually be risking ending up in court by using these images on their or clients websites.

There are websites that you can visit where you can actually purchase the rights to use an image on your website or in an advertisement for example, but always makes sure you read exactly what rights they are allowing you to have. Often you may find that the image is not licensed to be used for commercial use unless your purchase the specific license to do so. Although this can work out a little expensive, it is going to be far less than you may end up paying in costs and compensation if your use a copyrighted graphic.
