Some companies are outsourcing their web design projects to places in the Middle East and USA as the costs over there are often less than in the UK but you need to consider the affects this may have on the project.

If there is a substantial time difference then you may get frustrated that you cannot contact the design agency during much of your working day therefore even a simple answer to a question may take long than a day to get a reply too.

If you are using a local company you have the added advantage of being able to meet up with them face to face and run through ideas or give them a brief of the work you require for your web project. This is often better than trying to communicate via email where messages can get misconstrued.
