How game graphics have improved?

Graphics in computer and console games are so good now it’s hard to believe that it’s only been 30 years since computing was done from tapes on devices such as the Spectrum and the Amstrad CPC464.

Gamming then moved on in the 90’s to more complex graphics seen in games such as Mario and Sonic on consoles including the Sega Mega drive and NES. These games allowed the player to move through changing scenery, albeit very basic, and choose characters with varying levels of detail for game play.

Comparing these games to the games of today is almost laughable, when you look at games such as GTA and FIFA alongside the combat games that have graphics that look so realistic it could be a CGI scene from an action film its almost hard to imagine what the future of game graphics will bring.

Needless to say as technology advances I think we will see more realistic graphics in 3D games that feel as if you are actually within the game and further developments in game playing technology that will make the games of today look weak and comedic in their simplicity.
